Vegan event planning: South Bay Vegan Drinks 2015

South Bay Vegan Drinks May 2015

Brad was originally the organizer of the event known as Southbay Vegan Drinks. As organizer, he managed to draw a crowd of 10-15 southbay vegans to each monthly event. When he moved to Santa Cruz, I took over hosting South Bay Vegan Drinks for 6 months, starting in May 2015. It was the sweetest birthday present anyone could have ever given me because I love Bay Area vegan events!

I had an idea of what I wanted this event to become based on 2 Vegan Drinks events I had been to in the past: The San Francisco Vegan Drinks and The New York City Vegan Drinks.

June 25 was my 2nd month hosting South Bay Vegan Drinks, and it was sooooo fun!!!

The new venue (The Fountainhead Bar, 387 S 1st St, San Jose) is super cute inside, and the craft cocktails are delicious!

The sweet and savory cones by Raw Daddy Foods were perfect in every way - cute, delicious, gluten-free, and vegan.

Here’s a picture of the menus I made with the drink specials for this month.

What a great turnout! 41 San Francisco Bay Area vegans and vegan-curious/vegan-friendly lovelies came out to join in the fun. Per usual, I didn’t get many pictures due to my inability to stop chatting long enough to snap some, but here are the few that I either took or stole from people.

What: Vegan drinks & vegan food created by The Butcher’s Son.

This was especially exciting getting Butcher’s Son to trek down to the southbay for our little event. They offered a one-time only menu, because once they opened up their brick and mortar, they didn’t have chicken of the woods mushrooms on the menu. Here’s The Butcher’s Son menu for our event.

October 2015 Southbay Vegan Drinks

I’m sad to say that this was my last month organizing Vegan Drinks. It made me really happy to grow it from 15 attendees to 70 in just 6 short months, but I must move on to bigger and better things (like my new podcast and the Vegan Prom. The event will still continue with a new organizer (the next 2 dates will be November 19 and December 17). Here are some pictures and details from October’s event.
